Thanks, Peter :-) The comonest cause for a slow start is programs that install themselves to start at Start Up. One culprit is RealPlayer. You can usually tell these programs to not start at Start Up by opening them and looking for their "preferences" or "options" command. Also, look under: Start > Programs
